Mundum Art Museum Unveiled to Boost Tourism and Culture

The Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has established the Mundum International Art Museum in Diktel Bazaar, aiming to promote tourism through art while preserving local literature, customs, and cultural heritage.

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, formally inaugurated the museum today. During the inauguration, Minister Pandey commended the municipality’s efforts in promoting art, literature, and indigenous culture while contributing to tourism development.

The museum is a result of the Mundum International Painting Workshop and Exhibition, organized by the municipality from Ashwin 17 to 20, 2080 BS. Artists from Nepal and 50 other countries participated, creating 182 paintings. These artworks, which showcase various religious and tourist destinations in Khotang, have been collected to form the core of the museum’s collection.

Mayor Tirtharaj Bhattarai highlighted the museum’s objective to introduce Khotang and Nepal to the global audience through art and foster tourism development. He emphasized the need for collective support to further promote the initiative, stating, “Everyone’s cooperation is essential to advance this cause.”

The Mundum International Art Museum is expected to serve as a vital platform for showcasing Khotang’s rich cultural heritage while positioning the district as a unique tourist destination on the global map.
