Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, emphasized the importance of spreading Buddha’s message of peace worldwide during the inauguration of the international seminar, “How to Understand Lord Buddha?” The one-day conference on Buddhist philosophy was jointly organized by Koteshwor Multiple Campus and Sariputra Foundation Lumbini at Gatthaghar, Bhaktapur.
Minister Pandey stated that the knowledge imparted by Buddha serves as a foundation for global peace and unity. He stressed that understanding Buddha’s teachings deeply and applying them practically is crucial for fostering harmony. While expressing pride in Buddha’s birthplace, Nepal, Minister Pandey urged Nepali citizens to follow Buddha’s wisdom and take the lead in disseminating messages of peace.
“Nepal is a land of spirituality, offering visitors the chance to experience its natural, cultural, and historical essence. I encourage everyone to explore Nepal’s profound connection with spirituality and Sanatan Dharma,” said Minister Pandey.
He further highlighted Nepal’s cultural and natural diversity, where citizens from the mountains to the plains and from the east to the west coexist harmoniously, sharing traditions, arts, and brotherhood. Minister Pandey called on everyone to recognize and preserve this unique cultural richness.
Former Foreign Minister and Chairperson of Koteshwor Multiple Campus, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, also addressed the event. He underscored the relevance of Buddha’s message in today’s world marked by conflict and fear. “As citizens of Buddha’s birthplace, it is our collective responsibility to spread his message of global peace,” he said.
The seminar featured participation from various countries, including scholars, researchers, and practitioners of Buddhist philosophy. Attendees included Thai professors, Buddhist researchers, students, and staff from the organizing institutions, according to Campus Chief Govinda Bahadur Karki.
This event highlighted Nepal’s pivotal role in promoting peace and spirituality while encouraging a deeper understanding of Buddha’s teachings.
