Snowfall Disrupts Daily Life in Pathibhara and Surrounding High Himalayan Areas

The high Himalayan regions of Taplejung district, including the revered Pathibhara Temple at an altitude of 3,794 meters, experienced snowfall on Tuesday evening following light rainfall. The snowfall has slightly affected daily life in these areas.

According to Milan Katuwal, a constable at the Fedi Police Post, snowfall has been observed along the trekking route leading to the temple, including settlements in Fedi and beyond. Despite the snowfall, life remains largely normal, Katuwal reported.

This marks the first significant rainfall in the district after a prolonged dry spell during the winter season. The dry weather had created challenges for farmers who had planted winter crops. However, the recent rainfall and snowfall have brought some relief to the agricultural community, according to local farmers.

Executive Director Prajin Hangbang of the Pathibhara Area Development Committee noted a decline in the number of pilgrims visiting the temple in recent days due to the increased cold. However, he added that snowfall typically attracts more domestic religious tourists to Pathibhara annually.

As the snow blankets the sacred temple and surrounding trekking trails, it provides a serene and picturesque landscape that is expected to draw visitors in the coming weeks, boosting religious and local tourism.
